Erik ten Hag has been following England Women’s journey to their first-ever World Cup final.
The Manchester United manager says he is “proud” of Lionesses coach and compatriot Sabrina Wiegman.
On top of that, Ten Hag promises to keep his “fingers crossed” for an England win over Spain in the final.
Speaking to reporters at his press conference ahead of United’s trip to Tottenham, Ten Hag said (via Daily Mail): “Firstly, it is great that a Dutch manager is doing a great job for England, so I am very proud of her, coming from the Dutch school, and of course I am a supporter and fan of the England women’s team and I really cross my fingers and hope they return with the World Cup.”
Of course, United have three players in Wiegman’s squad including Ella Toone, Mary Earps and Katie Zelem.
It is also believed that the Women’s World Cup has contributed to United delaying their decision open Mason Greenwood’s future. There has been strong suggestions that he will remain at the club, which has sparked an angry reaction from fans.
TV presenter Rachel Riley is a lifelong Red that claims she won’t be able to support United anymore if they take Greenwood back. A strong stance but she is not alone.
We send our best wishes to Ella, Mary and Katie ahead of the final.
