Two Reds help Lionesses reach World Cup final

The Lionesses have reached the World Cup final after beating host nation Australia 3-1.

England continued their party at the Women’s World Cup after reaching the final for the first time on a historic evening in Sydney.

They will take on Spain in an attempt to become world champions.

It was a sell-out crowd at Stadium Australia as Marina Wiegman’s side silenced the hosts.

Manchester United’s Ella Toone gave England the lead in the first half with a stunning strike.

Chelsea star Sam Kerr then made it 1-1 with an equaliser for Australia.

The Lionesses kicked on and Lauren Hemp took advantage of a defensive error to make it 2-1, before former United striker Alessia Russo doubled the lead.

Katie Zelem was an unused substitute throughout the contest.
