Harry Maguire appears destined to move to West Ham which means Manchester United will be linked with a number of centre-backs to replace him.
One of those players is OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo and one French football expert has compared him to Manchester United defender Raphael Varane.
Erik ten Hag will want to sign a defender who is more suited to his style of play than Maguire, who struggled last season as he fell down the pecking order.
Maguire’s impending departure is expected to force United to take a look at their defensive shortlist, which also includes Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard.
Speaking about Todibo, French football expert and Caught Offside columnist Jonathan Johnson claims the 23-year-old would be an ideal signing for United and even compared him to Raphael Varane.
“I do think there is the potential that Todibo makes that kind of Man United move in the near future and if the Manchester club do get him, I think there are some similarities with Raphael Varane in many ways,” Johnson explained.
With Varane aged 30 and having his fair share of injuries in the past, it makes perfect sense to have an understudy at the club to learn from the four-time Champions League winner.
After all, that is exactly the pedigree we want to see at United.
