Manchester United agree €9m deal to sell Matej Kovar, buyback clause included

Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly reached an agreement worth €9 million to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Matej Kovar.

That’s according to a recent report from Fabrizio Romano, citing German outlet Kicker, with an updating suggesting a deal is in place for the Czech goalkeeper to move to Germany.

Furthermore, it is believed the first phase of Kovar’s medical examinations took place on Thursday.

Having joined the United academy in 2018, Kovar, 23, made a few appearances during pre-season this summer. He impressed but it was always clear that he wasn’t going to be back-up to Andre Onana next season.

Elsewhere, Infotbal claim United are expected to include a buyback clause and right of first refusal in Kovar’s deal to Leverkusen.

It’s a big move for Kovar and United recieve a decent sum of money for a keeper who is nowhere near the starting eleven.

And, it’s money that will help Ten Hag make more signings before transfer deadline day.

  1. So we’ve got one decent fit keeper and a new number 9 who can’t play because of a back problem the only decent fit keeper we’ve sold and the new season opens today only our transfer boys could make that happen just like the fiasco with De Gea

  2. Degea had to go, no doubt about it. He had been downing tools for years now. He was never worth the wages we paid, not even with us really appreciating his service to the club. Too bad we didn’t figure it out before the huge pay raise. He did not need to improve further after that. He stayed at the same level at which he peaked when Real Madrid came in for him. Other clubs see that, so no one is coming in for him even for free. Good luck to David!! Sad he is gone, but his time for us has passed, and we paid him well for his service.
