Manchester United have rejected a £30 million bid from West Ham United for Scott McTominay, according to Manchester Evening News.
It was reported this evening that the Irons had submitted a double offer of £60m for McTominay and Harry Maguire, and the Red Devils have since opted to decline their proposal for the Scotsman. Currently, Maguire’s still stands, but it does fall below United’s £35m valuation – as per The Times.
The club also value McTominay significantly higher and in the region of £40-45m. He is an established Scotland international and is just 26 years old with a plethora of Premier League experience, so you can understand the board holding out for a higher fee.
West Ham are yet to add to their squad this summer despite recuperating £100m from Declan Rice’s widely-covered switch to Arsenal. David Moyes considers McTominay a suitable midfield replacement for the England star, but whether or not the Hammers board will increase their offer remains to be seen.
Maguire and McTominay staying put for now
Meanwhile, United are in no rush to sell the duo, however, they will for the right price. Erik ten Hag views the players as reliable and senior figures in the dressing room, whom he can call upon across the season.
Frankly, if the Hammers get the offer up to £70m for both, I’d take it. I don’t think it’s going to get better than that given neither will get a useful amount of minutes on the pitch this season.
