Manchester United already have Harry Maguire replacement lined up with improved Irons bid on table

Manchester United will target a new centre-back if Harry Maguire leaves the club this summer.

It’s looking increasingly likely that that could happen too, as West Ham United have today submitted an improved £30 million offer for the Englishman to try and test the Red Devils’ resolve once and for all.

The new proposal comes after their opening £20m bid was swiftly rejected and now, a deal may be closer to being agreed given United’s asking price of £35m. However, Maguire is yet to give the green light to the move himself.

It would, of course, be a completely different ball game under David Moyes. No Champions League football and a potential relegation scrap, but guaranteed game time and a chance to play a key role in the Hammers’ revamp.

For the Reds, they’ll seemingly allow their ex-club captain to leave if the price is right. He ranks below Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof and even, at times, Luke Shaw in the pecking order.

United line up Maguire replacement

According to reporter Sacha Tavolieri, Erik ten Hag has set his sights on Nice’s Jean-Clair Tobido if Maguire leaves in the coming weeks. The 23-year-old Frenchman was a regular starter for the Ligue 1 side last term and should he be sold to United, Barcelona – his former club – will receive a percentage of the fee.
