Premier League club target 23y/o Manchester United academy star

Aston Villa are reportedly targeting Manchester United’s academy goalkeeper Matej Kovar.

Villa’s interest was confirmed by the Daily Mail earlier in August and it has since been reported that the Red Devils are willing to sanction the exit of the ‘keeper, whether it be a loan or permanent departure.

Kovar, 23, is yet to make his first-team debut with the club and has instead completed three loan spells at Swindon Town, Burton Albion and Sparta Prague respectively. The latter of which was perhaps his most successful out of the trio as he played a part in the Czech side winning their first league title in nine years, subsequently earning himself the Goalkeeper of the Season award.

Kovar excluded from Ten Hag’s plans

However, his best efforts are still seemingly not enough to warrant a place in the senior squad under Erik ten Hag. The manager recently acquired experienced shot-stopper Andre Onana as the new No.1, while also blocking a move that would’ve seen Tom Heaton sign for Luton Town, meaning the veteran will likely play second fiddle to Onana next term.
