After agreeing terms in July, the transfer was put on hold due to his involvement in the Red Devils’ pre-season tour of the United States.
He did not make any senior, competitive appearances for the Red Devils since joining from Southend United in 2020, but did gain valuable first-team experience when he was sent on loan to League Two outfit Mansfield Town in the 2021/2022 campaign.
Bishop makes Championship switch
Now, Bishop will have to test his resolve in the Championship and fight for the starting goalkeeper spot at the Stadium of Light.
Meanwhile, the Black Cats will be looking to go one further this term and clinch promotion to the top flight after narrowly missing out after their play-off semi-final defeat this year.
