Erik ten Hag recommends FC Twente switch to Manchester United winger

FC Twente are interested in signing Facundo Pellistri on loan.

Dutch journalist Tijmen van Wissing claims FC Twente are in the market for a specialist winger after losing the services of Virgil Misidjan and Vaclav Cerny.

Speaking on the Voetbalpraat Podcast, the journalist went on record to say that Twente are waiting to sign the Uruguay International.

The Eredivisie side faces competition from Argentine giants Boca Juniors. That said, Erik ten Hag has supposedly already advised the 21-year-old to join the Dutch outfit on loan.

However, it sounds like Pellistri has yet to make a decision on his future ahead of the new season.

Van Wissing said: “FC Twente simply have no wingers and you can see that.

“A bit of the same thing is happening at FC Twente as at Ajax, they are waiting for Pellistri from Manchester United. Boca Juniors seems to be in the market for that now.

“That boy is advised by Ten Hag to go to FC Twente, because you play all the matches there in any case. He seems to be a great talent from Uruguay. They are waiting for that.”

Facundo Pellistri should take Ten Hag’s advice

It would be an incredible achievement for Pellistri to one day sign for Boca Juniors, no-one can deny that.

But if he wants to make it at United – or in Europe – surely he will prioritise a move to the Netherlands over a return to South America?

Ten Hag has a strong association with Dutch football and I think he will use that to his advantage at United. A move to FC Twente would be ideal for Pellistri as long as Amad Diallo stays at the club.
