Manchester United could join Liverpool and Chelsea in pursuit of Saints starlet Romeo Lavia – report

Manchester United are reportedly ready to rival Liverpool in the race for Southampton starlet Romeo Lavia.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, which suggests that Chelsea are also in the mix for the midfielder despite their ongoing pursuit of Moises Caicedo.

Liverpool have already seen their opening bid for Lavia swiftly rebutted by the Saints, who are preparing for their first season in the Championship after 11 years of Premier League action. They have outlined an asking price of £50 million for the 19-year-old.

United mulling over Lavia approach

Jurgen Klopp’s side are now finalising an improved offer of around £45m in hopes of acquiring Lavia’s signature before the new campaign kicks off. Meanwhile, any approach United may make depends entirely on outgoings – Fred and Donny van de Beek are both expected to leave this summer but bids are yet to be accepted for the duo.

United have sought Sofyan Amrabat as another suitable option to bolster their midfield after signing Mason Mount earlier in July. The Moroccan is seen as the most plausible and realistic option.
