Casemiro warns Manchester United are growing ahead of the new season

Casemiro believes Manchester United will continues an upward trajectory after a successful first season for Erik ten Hag at the club. The Brazil star believes the Reds can build on last season.

Erik ten Hag was appointed manager before ending a six-year trophy drought, finishing third in the Premier League and reaching the FA Cup final.

As well as that, we’ve continued to strengthen the squad this summer, despite the takeover process being delayed by the leaches based in Florida. We still don’t know if the Glazers will remain, but Avram Glazer has made his presence felt on the pre-season and it is believed that he is one of the two Glazers that wants to stay – in some capacity – on at the football club.

But things are looking positive on the pitch and United fans haven’t been able to say that a lot in recent years. People like Ten Hag, Casemiro and a few others are to thank as the Reds try to improve on last term.

“I think we are growing, I think we are evolving, right?” Casemiro told The Guardian. “Always when anyone speaks about Manchester United, the club is about winning… we are embracing the ideas of the coach and we are on the right patch.”

That should come as a warning to other teams in the Premier League. While Arsenal have improved this summer to try compete in another title race, Man City haven’t and Liverpool need to do a lot more to make the progress Jurgen Klopp will demand. I don’t think anyone will be worried about Tottenham, although they are lucky (stupid?) to be keeping hold of Harry Kane.

I haven’t been lucky enough to travel to the United States for the pre-season tour this summer, but from watching afar – and following Peter Bolton’s pre-season tour diary – it sounds like a very positive tour for United (apart from how the club rammed the new away shirt down everyone’s throat).

A lot of that positivity may have a lot to do with the fact Ten Hag went to the US and it wasn’t long before Andre Onana joined the squad. That meant the manager had two of his primary targets on pre-season with the squad to help everyone prepare for the new season, and we know how transformative Onana will be towards the build-up play.

Hopefully, Casemiro’s words come to action when it competitive season kicks-off against Wolves at Old Trafford. It’s getting closer.
