David de Gea could complete shock move to Bundesliga giants after Manchester United release

Bayern Munich have reportedly added David de Gea to their goalkeeper shortlist this summer.

The 32-year-old ended his 12-year stay at Old Trafford last month when his Manchester United contract expired.

It came at the best time for all parties as De Gea’s form often faltered in his final years at the club and Erik ten Hag desired a more modern-type ‘keeper to suit his standards and style of play.

However, fans were left aggrieved that he had not been given a proper send-off at the stadium, especially considering all his efforts over the past decade as a Red. De Gea was also the last remaining player to have worked with Sir Alex Ferguson, marking the end of an unforgettable era with his departure.

Now, the Spaniard is a free agent and is seeking a suitable new venture to take his services. It was reported last week that he had held talks with Inter Milan to replace Andre Onana, who succeeded his role with the Red Devils, but a deal failed to materialise as his wage demands were higher than what the Serie A outfit could offer.

BILD is now suggesting that De Gea is of interest to the reigning Bundesliga champions. Thomas Tuchel is scouring the market for a shot-stopper that can play backup to veteran Manuel Neuer, meaning game time will be significantly less than what he’s used to.

Current number two, Yann Sommer, is trying to navigate his exit from Bayern as former coach Julian Nagelsmann initially promised that there would be equal rotation between the sticks, but Tuchel has since come in and made it clear that the Germany captain will be filling the role full-time.
