Manchester United attacker to return to full training this week but club moving with caution over fitness

Anthony Martial is set to return to full Manchester United training this week.

As per The Athletic, the Red Devils are proceeding with caution when it comes to Martial’s involvement in the forthcoming matches. Prior to the trip to the United States, he was training alone at Carrington and has since continued preparation away from his teammates.

The Frenchman tore his hamstring in United’s final game of the 2022/2023 Premier League campaign on May 28, which consequently ruled him out of the FA Cup final.

It came after a season where Martial had spent more time on the sidelines than he had being fully fit and available. Injuries have, unfortunately, plagued his career and even more so since he moved to Old Trafford in 2015.

The situation leaves United in a difficult position too; Erik ten Hag would likely rather offload the frontman and try to recuperate funds that can be used on a replacement, however, few clubs would be willing to take on such an injury-prone striker.

Martial, 27, will be looking to make amends for lost time after the summer though and could feature in the forthcoming pre-season fixtures in the US – but Ten Hag may opt to limit his game time to prevent any further problems as the new season approaches.
