Romano: Premier League club enquire about signing Manchester United outcast

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Fulham have approached Manchester United regarding Eric Bailly’s availability.

The Ivory Coast international is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer following a substandard loan spell with Ligue 1 outfit Marseille.

Now, Bailly has no place in Erik ten Hag’s plans and would fall well behind the likes of Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire in the pecking order at centre-back.

As well as that, injuries have plagued his career since he moved to United in 2016, so he was never a reliable option to have in a side that want to compete on all fronts.

Romano on Bailly

In his Daily Briefing with CaughtOffside, Romano states that Bailly, 29, has garnered interest in England and from Saudi Pro League sides Al Nassr and Al Ettifaq.

He said: “Eric Bailly will make a decision on his next club soon as he’s set to leave United in the coming weeks. Al Nassr approached him and also Fulham, and Al Ettifaq have asked for conditions of the deal.”

Whichever offer comes United’s way, Ten Hag will certainly be pushing the board to accept it as quickly as possible so his transfer budget is bolstered.
