Erik ten Hag open-minded about keeping Jonny Evans beyond pre-season

Jonny Evans could recieve an offer from Manchester United to remain at the club next season.

The 35-year-old returned to United after signing a short-term deal to help the youngsters out during pre-season.

From training with the first team and youth players, Evans has quickly earned the admiration for Erik ten Hag.

According to ESPN, Evans could earn a permanent deal with United, despite links to Everton.

Ten Hag is understood to be ‘open-minded’ about the prospect of adding Evans to his senior squad for the upcoming campaign.

The former Northern Ireland international is available on a free transfer after his contract at Leicester City expired.

Evans played in the 1-0 win over Lyon in Edinburgh on Wednesday. It was his first appearance for the Reds in eight years.

While no decision has been made yet, I believe Evans still has something to offer at the highest level, albeit in a bit-part role.

United need suitable depth to fall back on when we will be competing in four different competitions.
