Atalanta boss refuses to put deadline on Rasmus Hojlund bids

Rasmus Hojlund is one of Manchester United’s main targets this summer.

Erik ten Hag wants to sign a centre forward to bring more goals to the team next season and it looks like Manchester United have given up hope of landing Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.

That has led United to turning their attention to Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.

The young Dane moved to La Sea last summer from Sturm Graz, and a successful first season saw him find the back of the net on 10 occasions, with nine goals in Serie A.

Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has refused to set a deadline for Hojlund bids, meaning United will have more time to evaluate their situation and sell players to increase funds for the transfer kitty.

Gasperini said (via Italy24, H/t Manchester Evening News): “Hojlund? Even if we fix a date, put August 15, the transfer market isn’t over. If an [irresistible] offer arrives, the club, the player, decides later.

“Date? I would put July 31 but realistically there is no possibility of putting it, even Hojlund was like this last year, everything is random.”

As long as United sign a goalscorer, I think we can hope for an exciting season as Ten Hag embarks on his second campaign.

Kane seems unlikely but there could be a chance of landing Hojlund.
