Leicester register interest in United youngster but face competition from two Premier League clubs

Leicester City are keen on signing Manchester United’s Amad Diallo on loan.

That’s according to Daily Mail, which confirms the Midlands club are preparing for Harvey Barnes’ exit to one of either West Ham United, Aston Villa or Newcastle United, with the latter currently seen as favourites.

The Foxes have set their sights on Amad after his scintillating loan spell with Sunderland last season, in which he played a pivotal role in their qualification for the play-offs. He finished the term as their top goalscorer with 14 goals and four assists in all competitions.

However, Enzo Maresca and the Leicester board know that their hopes of acquiring the 21-year-old could be tainted by Sheffield United and Burnley’s interest, as they boast Premier League status for the forthcoming campaign.

Amad awaiting clarification on future

All of this depends on Erik ten Hag, though, with the United boss yet to make a decision on Amad’s future. It is believed that he will watch the Ivorian in action throughout the pre-season tour to determine his whereabouts after the summer, whether it’s another loan or staying with the first-team squad.
