Former Manchester United striker urges Harry Maguire to consider joining Aston Villa

Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke believes now is the time for Harry Maguire to leave the club.

I think Yorke will quickly find out that the majority of United fans agree with such a statement, however, we’ve already written about the likelihood of Maguire staying at Old Trafford.

“Harry Maguire has been at Man United for four years now, he’s clearly talented and is still one of England’s number one defenders. If he doesn’t match the philosophy of Erik ten Hag, then there’s nothing he can do but leave the club,” Yorke told BoyleSports, as cited by the Manchester Evening News.

Yorke adds that Aston Villa would be a good destination for the England international, saying: “Aston Villa would be a great destination for Maguire, they’re ambitious and want to break into the top six. Unai Emery has done a fantastic job, they have a great stadium and an amazing fanbase. Villa are looking to bring in established players to break into the European spots consistently and Maguire is one of those established players. It’s a fresh start for Maguire, he can get out of the limelight and blossom again.”

Maguire’s future will depend on what offers come in this summer. There’s not many clubs (Tottenham?) in the market for a new centre-back – let alone any willing to fork out £50 million on United’s fourth/fifth choice centre-back.

On top of that, we know how poor the club is when it comes to selling players. United rarely make a profit on these players but that could change this summer, with Dean Henderson and Anthony Elanga linked with moves away.

United already know they won’t make any profit on Maguire.

Let us know in the comments section if you think Maguire will leave United this summer.
