Manchester United star edging closer to Premier League switch

Dean Henderson is edging closer to his expected move to Nottingham Forest, as per The Telegraph.

The England international was not included in Manchester United’s 26-man squad for their first pre-season fixture against Leeds United tomorrow, which all but confirmed his impending exit from the club after months of speculation.

Steve Cooper had his sights set firmly on acquiring Henderson permanently ever since he welcomed him to the City Ground last summer on a season-long loan spell, though his campaign was cut short after he sustained a thigh injury on January 14.

The goalkeeper has been keen to end his 12-year association with the Red Devils, having been a product of their Academy, due to his lack of involvement in the first team – he last featured for United in February 2022.

Negotiations between the two Premier League clubs had hit a roadblock when David de Gea’s future became uncertain, with the Spaniard since confirming his time between the sticks at Old Trafford had drawn to a close.

Erik ten Hag is now actively pursuing Andre Onana to fill the No.1 void.
