Manchester United and Newcastle United are both interested in signing Monaco defender Axel Disasi.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who has confirmed that both the Premier League clubs are pursuing the 25-year-old.

Erik ten Hag has already held talks with the player’s entourage in recent weeks but the Red Devils are yet to submit a bid, as they are currently prioritising Andre Onana’s expected arrival at Old Trafford.

The Magpies have also been in touch with Disasi’s agents over the past week and will formally approach Monaco soon. They are also yet to launch an opening offer.

Disasi to make the move to England?

Gonesse-born Disasi has spent his whole career so far in France and was called up to represent his national team at last year’s World Cup, finishing the tournament with a runners-up medal.

He made 49 appearances across the 2022/2023 campaign, contributing six goals and four assists in that time.
