Mason Mount has complete his medical ahead of his summer transfer to Manchester United.

Sky Sports are now claiming that a formal announcement for Mount’s transfer is expected within the next 24 hours.

The Chelsea academy graduate is expected to join for a transfer fee in the region of £55m plus performance-related add-ons.

After coming through the ranks at Chelsea, I’d imagine quite a percentage of their match-going support will be disappointed to see such a talented midfielder leave the club. I know I would be considering how long United persisted with Jesse Lingard.

However, they can’t really complain about the amount of money they will be making from the deal. Mount is leaving Chelsea where he had one-year left on his contract. That’s the only reason people are saying United have overpaid for a player when he is clearly one of Erik ten Hag’s primary targets this summer.

Mount was at Carrington on Monday to undergo his medical examinations and Fabrizio Romano reported this morning that everything went to plan.

The England international was spotted in Cheshire this morning, but he is expected to return to Carrington for his photoshoot and media duties.

We look forward to seeing Mount in Red!
