Mason Mount pictured in Cheshire before finalising Manchester United transfer

Manchester United fans are waiting for an official announcement on Mason Mount’s arrival from Chelsea.

The England midfielder was joined by his entourage at United’s Carrington training complex with the club set to secure their first transfer of the summer.

Erik ten Hag made Mount one of his prime targets this summer to strengthen United’s midfield, but several bids were rebuffed before there was a breakthrough last week.

The medical took place on Monday and Fabrizio Romano claims everything went to plan.

With an initial £55m figure, followed by £5m in performance-related add-ons, this will raise debates over United overspending on a player with one-year left on his contract at Chelsea.

New pictures from the Daily Mail show Mount in Cheshire this morning. The Chelsea academy graduate appeared to be enjoying a coffee before heading back out to Carrington to finalise his switch to Old Trafford.

We know from experience that there’s a United tax on such deals and clubs – like Chelsea – will take advantage of that when they’re trying to comply with Financial Fair Play rules.
