David De Gea targeted by Al Nassr amid Man United contract dispute

Out-of-contract goalkeeper David De Gea is reportedly the latest big name to be wanted by wealthy Saudi clubs.

According to a recent report from The Sun, the Spanish shot-stopper is wanted by Al Nassr, the club Cristiano Ronaldo left Old Trafford for at the beginning of the year.

Although the 32-year-old veteran is now a free agent after his deal officially expired last month, his preference is believed to be staying at United.

However, failure to reach an agreement over a new contract, which, according to The Athletic, has included the Red Devils’ offering a lower salary before withdrawing the offer and submitting a revised version containing an even lower salary.

Consequently, undecided over whether or not to accept a much lower deal, as well as in line to lose his number one status as Erik Ten Hag targets Inter Milan’s Andre Onana as his new keeper, De Gea is suddenly looking likely to leave the club after 12 years.

As for Al Nassr, the Saudi club have offered De Gea a deal worth £250,000-per week – a figure likely to be a lot greater than United’s proposed terms.

If United’s veteran keeper does make the switch to Al Nassr, it would mark a significant change in his career, moving from the Premier League to the rapidly growing football scene in Saudi Arabia. The move would also see him reunited with Ronaldo, with whom he enjoyed tremendous success at Old Trafford.
