Manchester United plan Onana bid as De Gea forced to wait around for contract talks

Manchester United are hot in pursuit of Andre Onana.

According to Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, talks are progressing between the Red Devils and Inter Milan, with the latter expecting a bid to arrive this evening.

The Serie A club will accept no less than €50 million and will demand add-ons that could take the fee up to €55m in total. They’re hoping that United’s opening offer matches their price tag in order to oversee a swift resolution.

Should a transfer be completed, Onana would reunite with former manager Erik ten Hag upon his arrival at Old Trafford. The pair worked together throughout their time at Ajax, so the United manager already knows exactly what he’s receiving from the goalkeeper.

De Gea’s future remains unclear

Meanwhile, David de Gea’s contract expires when the clock strikes midnight tonight. The club have scheduled talks over his future but they won’t happen until after his wedding this weekend.

United are essentially asking the Spaniard to hang around while they determine if they can sanction the arrival of a new No.1. Some way to treat a player with 12 years of history at the club.
