Ajax want £40m for Manchester United target after talks with Brighton

Ajax want £40 million for Manchester United target Mohammed Kudus, according to reports.

We already know that Manchester United will face stiff competition for Kudus’ signature.

The 22-year-old has attracted plenty of interest with his performances for Ajax, although last season was one to forget for the Eredivisie giants as they finished third in the table.

Despite the fact Ajax failed to defend their title, Kudus managed to score 18 goals in all competitions. An impressive tally for an attacking midfielder.

After having three bids rejected for Mason Mount, United have reportedly sought Kudus as an alternative and the Daily Mail claim Ajax would require a fee of around £40m for their star man.

With two years left on Kudus’ contract, I don’t think that is a crazy fee for the attacking midfielder, but it is understood that Brighton are in the driving seat to sign the Ghanaian star.

A deal for Kudus would see Brighton break their transfer fee record, and they have the money after selling Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool for £35m.

Speaking to De Telegraaf last month, Kudus’ agent Jennifer Mendelewitsch said: “I think it is best for both Ajax and Mohammed that he makes a transfer now.

“Now is the right time. He has ignored a proposal to extend his contract until the summer of 2026.

“What I can say is that after the World Cup and this season there is a lot of interest in Kudus.”

  1. he’s had a better season than Mount so i think it’s a no brainer we’re getting as obsessed with Mount as we did with De Jong
