Manchester United learn Moises Caicedo price amid Mason Mount debacle

Manchester United are moving on from Mason Mount and they could now reignite an old flame as Moises Caicedo, the Brighton and Hove Albion star, has emerged as a target for the Reds again.

Earlier on Saturday, it emerged that United were preparing an offer for the Ecuador international after walking away from a deal to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea.

United are aware that signing Caicedo would cost far more than making a move for Mount but it is thought that the Reds have taken Caicedo’s age and current contract situation into consideration.

United were reluctant to meet Chelsea’s steep asking price and now, it has been reported that Brighton are looking for a jaw-dropping amount to part ways with Caicedo.

That’s according to talkSPORT, who say that Brighton believe Caicedo is worth as much as Declan Rice, who has had a £100m price-tag slapped on his signature.

Caicedo is thought to be attracting interest from a number of European clubs, with Chelsea and Arsenal among those to be linked with a move earlier.

United were infamously interested in signing Caicedo before he made his move to Europe but ended up passing on a deal weeks before he joined Brighton. Since then, he has taken the Premier League by storm and if he leaves, he is set to become Brighton’s biggest ever sale.

It is yet unclear whether United will have the funds available to sign Caicedo at that price, with the drawn-out takeover saga still casting a grey cloud over the transfer window.

  1. That’s exact fit needed in our team, they should consider seriously this summer.

  2. Not sure if Talksport have ever called anything right, so taking this with large pinch of salt. But if the guy is worth close to double what United wanted to pay for Mount, he must be twice as good, right? So why we trying for Mount in first place? And if he’s only as good as Mount, why not stump up the extra Chelsea are asking for? Think this more Talksport rubbish.
