One area I don’t think Manchester United need to strengthen in left-back.
That won’t stop the click-hungry media from creating transfer gossip, and we know how newspapers love using Manchester United to get those extra clicks during the summer months.
With Luke Shaw excelling under Erik ten Hag and Tyrell Malacia providing cover as back-up, the idea of signing a new left-back truly beggars belief.
United need to sign a centre-forward, goalkeeper, centre-back, and a midfielder or two. If there’s money in the kitty at the end of the transfer window, I would prioritise a right-back over a left-back too!
That has not stopped Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (H/t Sport Witness) from running a report that states United are keen on AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez.
The France international is highly rated but it would make no sense to sign him this summer, especially when the report claims AC Milan want ‘at least €60m’ for their star defender.
So, it would take a sensational offer to get Hernandez to Old Trafford… but he is not a signing we need to be spending a chunk of Ten Hag’s transfer kitty on.
It is suggested that United are ‘pressing’ to sign Hernandez, but we’re not buying that. Great player but this link just doesn’t make any sense right now.
