The Portuguese press are adamant that Manchester United are the main contenders for the signing of FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa.

Portuguese newspaper O Jogo dig into the details behind the potential transfer, and note how Porto are in need of making a big sale before the end of the month.

The same report outlines how David de Gea still hasn’t signed a new contract, and with Erik ten Hag wanting a more progressing keeper between the sticks, Costa seems the ideal replacement.

However, United don’t want to pay the €75m release clause to sign Costa.

It is also stated that the process for Costa’s sale ‘should accelerate’ after the upcoming period of internationals.

Costa would be a significant upgrade on De Gea and he’s young enough to be around for a long time.

Maybe Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot can have words before they go on holiday.
