Manchester United were reportedly interested in Arsenal’s William Saliba before the Frenchman committed his future to the Gunners.
That’s according to Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport, who confirmed the Red Devils were keen on the Frenchman along with Bayern Munich.

However, Saliba was unwilling to say his goodbyes at the Emirates, as he has since agreed to pen a four-year contract with Arsenal while they continue their resurgence under Mikel Arteta.
It’s no surprise that United had been monitoring the defender; his impact on the Arsenal squad has been absolutely pivotal.
At just 22 years old, Saliba has been a stalwart in his side’s backline and when he sustained an injury in the closing stages of the campaign, the club’s title hopes derailed.
United continue defender search
Erik ten Hag must now continue his search for a suitable centre-back to join the fold and provide competition to the likes of Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire, though it’s unknown if the latter will still be a Red by the end of the summer.
