Manchester United have been linked with a number of goalkeepers this summer – but few are getting the same coverage as FC Porto’s Diogo Costa.
The latest news from talkSPORT suggests Everton’s Jordan Pickford is the man at the top of Manchester United’s goalkeeper wishlist.
While that report claims United will make a move for the England shot-stopper regardless of whether David de Gea remains at the club, media outlets elsewhere believe we’re looking at other keepers around the continent.
Portuguese outlet A Bola claim United are interested in FC Porto goalie Diogo Costa, but they are not entertaining the €75 million valuation set for him.
As a result, United are supposedly doing their utmost to lower the asking price for Costa. It’s a vague line to give because the report in question doesn’t detail how United plan to do this. Will they offer a player in exchange to cushion the blow for Porto?
United need a sign a goalkeeper who is renowned for playing out from the back, along with a willingness to come off his line. That will allow the team to play with a higher defensive line and I could see that benefiting the Reds in front of goal.
