Manchester United target to complete military service before potential transfer

Napoli defender Kim Min-jae will reportedly complete military service in South Korea before completing a summer transfer to Manchester United.

The highly-rated centre-back was a key player in Luciano Spalletti’s Serie A-winning side this season, but an attractive release clause in his current deal could see Kim Min-jae move on after just one year in Naples.

In turn, the 26-year-old is being lined up for a move to the Premier League.

Italian outlet Il Mattino claims that a release clause that can be triggered by Premier League clubs has already been activated, with Kim expected to sign for Manchester United.

Moreover, it is claimed that Kim will be forced to return to his homeland to complete compulsory military service before linking up with a new club.

While a lot of the Italian media outlets are suggesting that a deal is close for Kim, none of the English outlets are going that far just yet.

It’s one to watch because we know United have sent scouts to watch Kim this season.

And, it goes without saying that he would be an upgrade on Harry Maguire, who looks set to leave United.
