Borussia Dortmund have reportedly outlined Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri as Jude Bellingham’s potential successor this summer.
According to a report from HL-1 , the Bundesliga giants are considering a move for the 20-year-old ready for Bellingham’s likely departure in the coming months, as the sought-after starlet is set to complete a transfer to Real Madrid.
Dortmund are often praised for their ability to bring in young prospects and develop them into world-class players, with them usually leaving for a significantly higher fee than the club paid.
In recent years, cases have included Ousmane Dembele, Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho and Christian Pulisic.
Now that it’s on the cards again, the board are already lining up who can fill the void of Bellingham at the heart of their midfield.
Hannibal garnering interest
That’s where Hannibal comes into question; the Carrington graduate is attracting interest from both Dortmund and Olympique Marseille ahead of the forthcoming transfer window.
The Tunisian international has just spent the season on loan with Birmingham City, making 41 appearances in all competitions across the term. He scored one goal and assisted a further six in that time.
Erik ten Hag is yet to make a decision on Hannibal, who has made three senior appearances for the Red Devils, but given the competition and quality in the squad currently, another loan move looks likely.
It’s up to the manager whether he’s willing to oversee Hannibal’s permanent exit but if the club do, it would be wise to include a buyback clause in his contract.
