Ten Hag could be granted huge fitness boost for FA Cup final with star attacker set to return

Erik ten Hag has provided an update on Antony’s injury, suggesting that the skilful winger may return in time for the FA Cup final.

Kick-off for Manchester United’s final Premier League fixture is fast approaching at Old Trafford and as soon as the full-time whistle blows, all attention will switch to the FA Cup final.

The Red Devils take on rivals Manchester City in the first-ever Manchester derby cup final next Saturday, June 3, at Wembley Stadium.

There was significant concern among the fanbase and United camp when Antony was stretchered off in the early stages of United’s 4-1 win over Chelsea, with Ten Hag later suggesting the issue was a serious one, meaning he would be a major doubt for the final.

However, when speaking to MUTV today (via Samuel Luckhurst), he suggested that the winger’s injury is not as bad as he first feared.

“We’ve all seen how he came off and didn’t look great. But the first assessment is not too bad and a good opportunity he is available for the Cup final next week.”

Luke Shaw was also replaced at half time in Thursday’s match with a slight back injury but he has made the matchday squad today, albeit as a substitute, so he should be fit to feature against City.
