Ten Hag sends owners message by admitting United need ‘better players’ to compete for the title

Erik ten Hag has made an honest admission regarding his Manchester United squad ahead of the forthcoming transfer window.

After securing Champions League qualification last night, spirits and morale were undoubtedly high at Old Trafford following the 4-1 victory.

However, to really compete with Europe’s elite next term, United need to navigate the transfer market wisely and Ten Hag needs to be backed.

Numerous positions need strengthening with quality talents that can make the Red Devils a feared team to come up against.

Ten Hag has made his stance clear amid the ownership situation, with the Glazer family dragging their heels whilst they mull over a potential sale of the club. Whoever is in charge, they need to put their money where their mouth is.

Ten Hag sends transfer message

Speaking via Football Daily, the manager said: “A good base to be in the top-four but we want to compete for the title, but it has to be realistic. You can first say when you have your squad at the end of a transfer window and winder window, what you can do. The squad is there, you can make a statement about whether it’s realistic or not. Now, we are far away so we have a lot of work to do. We can make progress with this team and this squad but yeah, we need better players.”
