Manchester United scout 20 y/o Nigerian striker playing in Belgium

Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Nigerian striker Gift Orban.

It goes without saying that Erik ten Hag will be prioritising a striker this summer. The manager will be looking for a prolific goalscorer who can make an immediate impact next season.

United have been linked with players like Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen, but Ten Hag should demand two strikers — another being a younger option to learn from the likes of Kane.

Brighton’s Evan Ferguson jumps to mind as an ideal option, but the Seagulls recently agreed fresh terms with the Republic of Ireland international. That means striking an agreement won’t be easy.

However, it sounds like United are eyeing a different young forward.

Belgian newspaper Nieuwsblad claim United sent scouts to watch Gent striker Gift Orban this past weekend.

Orban, 20, has been in terrific form for Gent this season, scoring 19 goals in 19 games since joining from Norwegian side Stabaek. That includes a hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Cercle Brugge, which he scored right in front of United scouts.

The Nigerian only signed for Gent in January for a mere £2 million. It sounds like they could make profit on Orban.

Two strikers this summer would be better than one because Ten Hag should know by now he can’t trust Anthony Martial for another season.
