The final picks for this year’s Team of the Season have been confirmed today.

Manchester United had four players make the shortlist; Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Casemiro and Marcus Rashford.

The defensive duo have unfortunately, and surprisingly, missed out, with voters opting for a back four of Kieran Trippier, William Saliba, Ruben Dias and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Casemiro and Rashford have, however, made the cut. It’s no surprise, as both players have been absolutely pivotal to United’s resurgence under Erik ten Hag this term.

The Brazilian boasts one of the most highly-decorated trophy cabinets and honours lists across world football, and he instilled all his experience into the Red Devils’ midfield instantly. Casemiro is an irreplaceable cog that keeps the squad ticking and at £70 million, he’s been worth every penny.

Rashford is finishing off the most prolific season of his career so far, with 29 goals and 11 assists to his name in all competitions. 16 goals and five assists have come solely in the Premier League and have been crucial to United’s place in the top four.

Both Reds also netted goals in the Carabao Cup final back in February against Newcastle United, putting an end to a six-year trophy drought at the club with a 2-0 win at Wembley, making their mark on a hugely defining season to kickstart Ten Hag’s tenure.
