Marcel Sabitzer says ‘spotlight’ is on ‘exceptional’ Man United attacker

Manchester United midfielder Marcel Sabizter has hailed Jadon Sancho but has admitted the English attacker is under the ‘spotlight’ following his huge transfer from Borussia Dortmund.

Having scouted the Sancho, 23, for several seasons before eventually agreeing to a deal worth a whopping £73m (Sky Sports) with Dortmund, United finally bagged their man in 2021.

However, despite joining the Red Devils as one of Europe’s most expensive attackers, the 23-year-old’s time at Old Trafford hasn’t quite gone to plan.

Struggling for form, the winger’s opening two seasons in Manchester has seen him score just 11 goals in 72 games in all competitions – a long way short of the kind of form he produced while with the Black and Yellows.

And speaking to Sky Sports Germany, as quoted by Utd District, about his struggling teammate, Sabitzer, who joined on loan from Bayern Munich in January, said: “Jadon Sancho was an exceptional player in the Bundesliga.

“He had stats that were extraordinary. He unconsciously put pressure on himself. When you join the Premier League, specifically to Man United for 80, 90 million, there’s a lot of spotlight.”

During his time in the Bundesliga, Sancho, who still has three years left on his United contract, scored 50 goals and provided 51 assists in 104 games.
