Early Manchester United team news ahead of their trip to the Amex on Thursday, May 4.

The Red Devils will be looking to further cement their place in the top four of the table when taking on Brighton and Hove Albion this week, having just overseen a narrow but crucial 1-0 win over Aston Villa.

Erik ten Hag confirmed last week that Alejandro Garnacho is nearing a return to action after his ankle injury has kept him sidelined since March 12. The youngster’s lively attacking threat has been sorely missed in his absence, so he will be a pivotal addition back to the squad as they tackle the remainder of the run-in.

Maguire returns to the squad

Harry Maguire is seemingly back to full fitness after recovering from his training-ground injury. The club captain made a brief cameo in the closing stages of Sunday’s Villa outing, so Ten Hag may opt to start him on Thursday.

Scott McTominay and Raphael Varane should return before the end of the season, but we, unfortunately, will not see Lisandro Martinez on the pitch again until the next term.
