Glenn Murray tips Harry Kane to join Manchester United

Glenn Murray has backed Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane to join Manchester United in the summer.

The former Brighton striker told BBC Sport that Kane will stay in the Premier League and has tipped him to join forces with Erik ten Hag at United.

Murray notes that Manchester City will not be in the race for Kane’s signature because they signed Erling Haaland last year. The Norwegian striker has been a success at the Etihad and looks set to drive City to a third consecutive Premier League title.

However, Murray does not think Newcastle will be an option for Kane. That would be a step down from Tottenham – but are they closer to winning a trophy than their domestic rivals?

Murray said: “I think Harry Kane will stay in the Premier League. Ultimately, he will want to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record and he can very much do that with his age and how many goals he’s scored.

“I can’t see Man City wanting him now they have got Haaland. I doubt Newcastle would be an option for him so Man Utd are the ones where you think the shoe fits. It’s a huge football club.

“They are on the cusp of coming back to something they used to be. The one thing they miss is that out and out goalscorer which Harry is, but I also think Harry’s got much, much more to give.”

  1. Kane would be a great signing but knowing Mr Levy & his tendency of playing hardball, it may be wise to have good alternatives in place.
