Major update in Man United takeover as billionaire ‘confident’ bid will be accepted

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is ‘confident’ his offer to invest in Manchester United will be accepted.

That’s according to journalist Duncan Castles, who claims the British billionaire has made a ‘best of both worlds’ style offer to the Glazer family that would see Ratcliffe earn a controlling stake in the club but would allow the current owners to ‘retain their shares post-takeover’.

It is believed Ratcliffe’s offer exceeds £5bn, and should it be accepted, would see the Red Devils’ sale top the global sporting charts for the world’s most expensive club.

This news is unlikely to be well received by Manchester United fans, who are pleading for the Glazer family to relinquish all control and sell the club in its entirety.

Banking tycoon Sheikh Jassim is also in the running to take over the club but after refusing to offer the same kind of terms as Ratcliffe is, it remains to be seen whether or not the Qatari billionaire will be successful.

Manchester United are set to welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford for a Premier League game on Sunday afternoon where more fan protests over a full-sale are planned.
