Everyone makes fun of Harry Maguire but the Manchester United centre-back is back in the team due to injuries and has a chance to set the record straight with good performances.
That said, whenever a defender has a bad game, it’s never feels too long before they get compared to the Manchester United captain.
Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamencano endured a torrid night in the Champions League against Man City — so much so, that one Arabian commentator likened him to Maguire.
The Bayern Munich centre-back had a bad night at the office at the Etihad last week and it was a similar story at the Allianz Arena as Thomas Tuchel’s side were humbled 4-1 on aggregate by Pep Guardiola’s side.
After just 24 minutes, Upamecano cynically brought down Erling Haaland after the Norwegian went through on goal and was shown a straight red card.
The decision was overturned because Haaland was actually offside.

Yet, before half-time, the defender was penalised for handball inside the box. City were given a penalty.
Upamecano didn’t have any better luck in the second half.
In the 85th minute, after receiving the ball, an Arabian commentator covering the game called him “Upamaguire”.
