Fabrizio Romano has shared his understanding of the latest update regarding the Manchester United sale process.
It was confirmed earlier this week that after two rounds of bids, the Raine Group are now extending the deadline again and inviting a third round of offers from all interested parties.
New proposals should be submitted by Friday, April 28 and Romano has reported (via his exclusive Daily Briefing with Caught Offside) that both Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani intend to stay in the race for the takeover of England’s most successful club.
He said: “Frustration is normal in the sense that all parties hoped for things to be done earlier rather than add another round of bidding, but it’s also an important process for a top club sale so it takes time.
“Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim remain interested in buying Man United; let’s see the next steps.”
Their previous bids were reportedly around the £5 billion mark, however, the Glazers are seemingly holding out for offers nearer their valuation of £6 billion. Whether or not the investors will table such an amount remains to be seen.
Fans grow frustrated with delays
The situation has sparked concern among supporters that the potential new owners may not be in charge in time to have an impact on the summer transfer window. Similarly, if the Glazer family feel as though the new bids aren’t high enough, they could stay put and seek minority investments.
