(Video) Alvaro Fernandez assists opener as Preston North End beat Reading

Alvaro Fernandez is the latest Manchester United loanee to make headlines in the Championship, with fellow promotion hopefuls Sunderland enjoying the addition of Amad Diallo this season.

Fernandez, 20, has impressed during his season-long loan at Preston North End and his latest contribution could go a long way towards potentially taking his club to the Premier League.

Preston welcomed Reading to Deepdale on Monday afternoon and Alvarez was at the heart of their opening goal, pulling the ball back for Thomas Cannon to give his side the advantage, as seen above.

Reading equalised with just seven minutes remaining on the clock but in a highly dramatic finale, Preston scored a last-minute winner to keep their hopes of promotion alive. Preston are now seventh in the Championship, with only goal difference keeping them out of the play-off places.
Alvarez has made 34 appearances for Preston in the Championship this season, appearing in the starting lineup in 23 of those games. He has been credited with four assists so far.
