Match preview: United must bounce back and return to top-four when Bees visit Old Trafford

Manchester United host Brentford tomorrow evening in an 8pm kick-off at Old Trafford.

United will know that bouncing back from the previous dire results will mean nothing less than a win tomorrow.

Since lifting the Carabao Cup at the end of February, United are winless and goalless in the Premier League, with supporters now fielding concerns that a top-four finish may be significantly harder to achieve than initially imagined.

Those results included a 7-0 loss to our biggest rivals at Anfield, a stalemate with relegation candidates Southampton and a 2-0 defeat to fellow Champions League-chasing Newcastle United. Not good enough at all.

However, form had been strong up to that point, which shows the squad have it in them to reignite that desire and give everything on Wednesday.

Brentford’s fine form a concern for the Reds

It won’t come easy though, and Brentford are one team I do fear facing. The reverse fixture back in August saw the Reds concede four goals in under 40 minutes without returning one in response, and now Thomas Frank has his men with their sights firmly set on the premise of European football.

Brentford sit seventh-placed in the league and have lost just five matches throughout the campaign so far, as well as just one loss in their last 16 games. They have also beaten the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool, and drawn to top-of-the-table Arsenal.

The Bees went toe-to-toe with Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend in an exhilarating clash that finished 3-3 at the Amex and looking at United’s results heading into the game, they’ll be feeling pretty confident that they can take something from the Theatre of Dreams.
