Victor Lindelof drops fresh hint over Manchester United future

Victor Lindelof has dropped a fresh hint over his future at Manchester United while on international duty with Sweden.

The 28-year-old Sweden captain has spent most of the season on the bench or out of the squad, with new manager Erik ten Hag preferring a combination of World Cup-winners at centre-back.

Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have been a formidable force at the back for The Reds this season, and we can see that a manager is finally improving the defence after years of question marks.

I’d argue that you would have to go back to Sir Alex Ferguson’s time in charge to name a centre-back pairing that fans were fully confident in.

Anyhow, Lindelof is under contract until the summer of 2024, and has made just nine Premier League appearances this season. He understandably wants to be playing more football and has admitted that he will be re-evaluating his situation at the end of the season.

Lindelof joined United from Benfica in 2017 for £40 million.

Speaking on international duty, Lindelof said (via The Metro): “Obviously I want to play. That’s why I play football because you want to play games.

“Right now I am focusing on the national team and the rest of the season with the club. In the summer, we have to re-evaluate and see what’s best.”

Lindelof has been linked with moves to Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan in the past, but much of this is just mere speculation until the player talks to Ten Hag ahead of next season.
