More than five bids to be made for Manchester United – Glazers staying is not ruled out

Yesterday, the club released a statement indicating that the Glazer family who are majority owners of the club said they will "consider all strategic alternatives, including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions involving the company". The announcement came on the same day the club announced its star player, Cristiano Ronaldo, was leaving with immediate effect. (Photo by Christopher Furlong/Getty Images)

The Raine Group have set a new deadline of Wednesday evening for second bids to be submitted for Manchester United.

According to Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports, there could be more than five bids by the deadline.

Unfortunately for United fans, the update also suggests that the Glazer family staying as owners cannot be ruled out at present. If the offers fail to meet their valuation (upwards of £5 billion) they could raise capital to invest in the club and pay off the existing debt, as well as put the necessary funding into revamping Old Trafford and Carrington training ground.

More bidders to attend Old Trafford meetings

Sir Jim Ratcliffe personally attended his face-to-face meeting with the Red Devils’ hierarchy last week, whilst Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani sent his delegation over to Old Trafford. There is currently no favourite out of the interested parties to buy United, and more bidders are expected to attend meetings next week.
