Tottenham unwilling to sell Harry Kane with Manchester United reluctant to negotiate with Daniel Levy

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to have a hardline stance when it comes to selling Harry Kane in the summer.

The Tottenham striker will enter the final year of his contract at the end of the season and it is believed the club want to extend his current deal. Manchester United are long-term admirers of Kane and Erik ten Hag will be in the market for a new centre-forward.

According to Melissa Reddy of Sky Sports News, Tottenham have no intention of sanctioning a sale and that will remain the case even if his contract situation remains unsolved heading into the new campaign.

Spurs are understood to be patient with Kane, who is focused on guiding the team to a top four finish this season after accepting it will be another campaign without silverware.

United will want to avoid a dragged out saga with Tottenham’s chief executive Daniel Levy, who will be reluctant to lose the club’s biggest asset with manager Antonio Conte set to depart and football director Fabio Paratici’s future uncertain.

Reddy reports: “United have cast a wide net over dynamic options, with the likes of Victor Osimhen, Goncalo Ramos, Lautaro Martinez, Dusan Vlahovic and Mohammed Kudus assessed.”

Levy is playing a risky game here, if true, but he must be confident that Kane is set to sign a new deal at Tottenham.

If Spurs hold firm without a new deal agreed, Kane would be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club next January. Reddy believes that Bayern Munich would be interested in doing a deal then.

It will be interesting to see where Tottenham finish this season because missing out on Champions League football will be a big blow for Kane and any prospect manager. The potential arrival of Mauricio Pochettino could help persuade Kane to stay, but the England captain could also be swayed by an appointment like Thomas Tuchel.
