Manchester United have not won at Anfield since January 2016, but the Reds go into the game against Liverpool in incredible form.
But we know from battles with Liverpool down the years that form can go out the window in this fixture. We also know Jurgen Klopp’s side will be desperate to beat United to prove a point and raise their chances of a top four finish this season.
However, United are also looking for that top four finish. A win on Sunday would be a huge boost in our bid to achieve that. After all it was Erik ten Hag’s main objective at the start of the season, along with winning a trophy which he did at Wembley last Sunday.
Brazil and Barcelona legend Rivaldo has offered his prediction for Sunday’s big game.
“We will have an English football classic at Anfield on Sunday, with Manchester United arriving in good form and Liverpool enduring a difficult moment by their standards,” Rivaldo told Betfair, as per the Manchester Evening News.
“United won their first trophy for six years last Sunday and are looking very strong in the Premier League and in the Europa League. They will see Sunday’s match as an opportunity to get a rare win at Anfield against their rivals Liverpool.
“Klopp’s team are going through a bad phase that culminated in their 5-2 defeat to Real Madrid at home in the Champions League. Now United have a good chance to win away from home and my prediction is 2-1 to the visitors.”
A win would see United do the double over Liverpool this season.
