Former Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has opened up on his Old Trafford exit.

The Brazil international will face United when Fulham take on the Reds I the FA Cup quarter-finals later this month.

Pereira left United in the summer and moved to the Cottagers after coming close to joining Flamengo permanently following a year-long loan.

Speaking to O Dia, Pereira explained how he ended up at Fulham.

“There was a phase at Flamengo that was difficult. I know what happened, I felt it first-hand. But unfortunately, in the end, when things were working out, it turned out to be too late to negotiate with Manchester United.

“They no longer wanted to negotiate with Flamengo. I understand the Flamengo part and I understand the Manchester United part, but I think the best thing for me was coming to Fulham.”
