Statistical view: Rashford comes out on top as winger is compared to Benzema and Haaland

Marcus Rashford has been one of Europe’s outstanding players since the domestic season was resumed following the month-long hiatus to accommodate this winter’s World Cup.

The 25-year-old is in the form of his career, having found the net 14 times in his last 16 appearances in all competitions. Later on Sunday, he has the chance to score his 23rd goal of the season, which would make this season his most prolific campaign.

Rashford has now scored over 20 goals in three of the last four seasons, with last year’s catastrophic term under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick a distant memory.

Rashford was also in stunning form at the World Cup with England, ending the tournament as their joint-top goalscorer despite only starting one game.

Now, after he guided United to a 2-2 draw at the Spotify Camp Nou last week, he has been compared to some of Europe’s elite strikers, including Karim Benzema and Erling Haaland.

According to Sky Sports Premier League, as seen above, the winger leads the way in Europe in terms of goalscoring since football was resumed, boasting a four-goal lead over his nearest competitor.

Haaland and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who is reportedly of interest to United, come in at third, scoring nine goals since Qatar.

Rashford will be hoping to pull away from the chasing pack further on Sunday as the Reds could move eight points clear of fourth-placed Newcastle United.
